Part-Time Communications Associate

Manhattan based Pilecki Institute USA is seeking a talented and highly motivated Part-Time Communications Associate to support the Institute’s communications and audience engagement activities. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Associate will be responsible for producing engaging digital content, managing the Institute’s social media channels, and supporting the preparation and distribution of the Institute’s newsletter and other communications materials.
This is a hands-on content production role for someone who combines excellent writing skills with a strong understanding of social media and digital communications. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable translating complex historical, cultural, and educational subjects into clear and engaging content for diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Production
• Produce engaging content for the Institute’s social media channels, including posts, captions, stories, reels, and other short-form digital content.
• Manage day-to-day posting and maintenance of the Institute’s social media accounts.
• Develop content promoting the Institute’s exhibitions, public programs, lectures, educational initiatives, publications, and institutional activities.
• Adapt content and messaging for different social media platforms and audiences.
• Help maintain a consistent institutional voice, visual identity, and editorial standard across channels.
• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar in coordination with the Director of Communications.
• Monitor social media engagement and performance and help identify opportunities to expand the Institute’s digital reach.
• Coordinate with colleagues, photographers, videographers, designers, and external partners to gather and prepare materials for publication.
Newsletter & Editorial Support
• Assist with the preparation, editing, and production of the Institute’s newsletter.
• Prepare and organize photographs, graphics, links, and other materials for newsletter distribution.
• Support the maintenance and development of the Institute’s mailing list and digital audience.
• Draft, edit, and proofread communications materials as needed.
• Help transform research, historical information, exhibition materials, and program descriptions into accessible and compelling public-facing content.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and high editorial standards across communications.
• Support communications around events and exhibitions, including real-time and post-event social media coverage.
Required Qualifications
• Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to produce polished, engaging, and accurate copy.
• Strong professional experience with social media, including both content creation and day-to-day management and posting.
• Demonstrated understanding of major social media platforms and their respective audiences, formats, and best practices.
• Ability to create compelling digital content using text, photography, video, and other source materials.
• Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Director of Communications and other members of the Institute’s team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Graphic design skills and experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms.
• Degree or professional background in journalism, communications, media, or a related field.
• Experience producing newsletters and working with email marketing platforms.
• Experience producing or editing short-form video content for social media.
• Previous experience working with a cultural institution, museum, nonprofit organization, media outlet, or educational institution.
• Interest in history, culture, museums, public humanities, or international affairs.
• Knowledge of Polish history, culture, and language is an advantage.
